Hi ennacac,

How is the Ultra II faster? How did you make the comparison? One of the tests I did was to time how long it took to take, say, 30 shots on continuous shooting mode under the same conditions with different cards. What speed is a regular Sandisk?

Hi tekade_alfred,

My next card certainly won't be another Extreme III. Whether it will be something slower than the Ultra II would depend on at what point the card will be slower than the camera...

I have no idea how fast the regular card is because it isn't marked!

In regular shooting, mostly of moving birds, the regular card is a real slow poke compared to the Ultra and the difference is very noticeable to me. I find myself missing some shots I would have captured had I been using a faster card.

After 60x I can see no difference!

YMMV

First SD-cards had a write speed 0,8MB/sec, read up to 3,6 MB/sec

first generation of "high-speed" cards ("32x") write 4,8 MB/sec

Ultra-speeds come to 20 MB/sec

(the speed is comparedto a single-speed CD-ROM =150 kB/sec --> 32x=4,8MB/sec)

I don't know the exact speed of the DS, but comparing many cards I found the maximum at appr. 40x - faster cards don't seem to make any sense

After some 600 shots on my new DS2, I've been completely satisfied with my two 512MB Lexar Platinum 40x cards...they've never slowed me down (mostly shooting max quality JPGs)

For Christmas, I got a 2 gig SD cared "MyFlash." 150X, ugly pink label.

Works really well, except that I can only use 1 gig of it in the camera. This doesn't seem to be a problem in a card reader.

Anyone know what's wrong?
