Default The Pentax *ist D is coming!

After a false start about a year and a half ago it looks as if Pentax is going to deliver on their promise of a new digital SLR system.

Read about it here:

Default long time listener, first time poster...

I personally am very interested in this. I'm angling to get my first DSLR in the next few weeks, but will watch the Pentax *ist D with interest...I shoot a film-based Pentax nowadays (ZX-5n), and I enjoy it's simplicity and lightweight design. Hopefully the *ist D will continue this tradition.

By the time it comes out I'll have a 10D, but I may just try to pick one up as a second DSLR of sorts if the price is right...hehe maybe I should show Pentax what I've done with their film SLRs, and they'll give me a demo unit (yeah right!).

Well, yeah right may be said in haste. I actually contacted Pentax, and they've bumped me up to their head of marketing, whom for some reason needs my request in writing...but it's progress!

God willing, I may just actually become a *ist D beta tester .

Will keep everyone here posted...unless they make me sign some sort of NDA!

I was able to have a short look at the *istD in March at the CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. It is a nice camera and compared to other DSLR cameras it is unbelievable small Let's hope that the first cameras will be sold in the end of August.

Many cameras are delayed this spring because there are not enough CCDs (maybe caused by SARS in China). I can only hope that the *istD will not be delayed again... I still have a OptioS which I have tested for my website - nice little camera But not comparable to the *istD...
