I have used the Sigma 70mm-300mm Macro lens for the past 4 years and have been very pleased with the results. I am not a professional user, but rather an enthusiast. For my needs, I have not noticed any distortion, both at 300 mm as well as in the macro mode. In fact, I have been rather pleased with the macro capabilities (very sharp pictures). My only complaint is that it is somewhat of a bulky lens (length). My only regret is not having got the 28mm-300mm lens instead. Hope this helps.

Yeah me too robar, unfortunately the good 300/400 primes are expensive as, which is one of the reasons im going to be switching to Canon when i get the cash.

I can get a nice L Series 400/5.6 for $2,400(AUD), tried it out on the 30D and autofocus is extremely fast, snappy and accurate, in lowlight especially. For a prime like that in Pentax firsthand with autofocus is hard to find.

Not that ill get rid of all my pentax gear, Ive got some good stuff

I have to agree With "jelpee". I own the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro. I cannot Speak about the macro aspect, But as far as Quality at the high end. I have seen No problem. I have used this lense for About Two years now and i still am very happy
