Catbells

Tried PPL V2, doesn't support the DL, get the mottled nonsense image that usually results (got the same thing with RSE 2005, works fine with 2006). I have been playing with V 2.12 which came with my camera and I must admit that, with a little tweaking, it does a very good job, especially with batch processing. Guess I won't be able to compare however.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Thanks again for the download however.

For the setting, you can read the EXIF inside the pic.

I just can't imagine why the format of a PEF RAW image file should be different from one Pentax camera to another - obviously it is BUT why.

I believe that the the *istDS uses the same sensor as the *istDL.

As it was explained to me, the file contains a reference to the camera model which is used in converting the PEF file, if the program does not have the correct camera listed it does not properly decode the image. This is a gross oversimplification but, as I said, the same is true with RSE 2005, it reads DS files but not DL.

A trick that I used with RSE 2005 before it supported the Ds was to convert the PEF to DNG using Adobe's free converter, and then open the file in RSE. Digital Negatives are still RAW files, but are losslessly compressed to half the size of a PEF. It is an Open Source item and is being supported by many editors. I don't know if it will work with the Pentax sw, but it costs nothing to try.
