I got my DS new a couple of weeks ago. Up until today I had taken only a few test pictures. Today I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park to give it a try out. After taking a number of pictures I let it rest a few minutes. When I tried to take the next shot it would not turn on. No response of any kind. I took the batteries out and reinserted them and it came back to life. A half hour later same problem, same solution.
What is going on? the batteries are fresh and everything works fine otherwise.
Thanks

Fresh or not, it sounds like a battery problem to me!

Hi

Before you get Too Upset. I would try a new set of Batterys. Even If you just run to the store and Get 4 alkaline AAs. It might be that one of the cells is dead or weak
By using the AA you will know

what version firmware are you using. hold down the ''menu'' button and turn the cam on. you will get a window that will say v1 or v2.

I have faced similar problem with brand new Energizer Lithium AA when my *ist D told that the battery was depleted. The camera was hanged and the camera once became okay when I picked out the battery and re-inserted. I bet my *ist D simply could not withstand the excessive high voltage of a new battery and it cut off the power.

Anyway, for low power batteries, I have never seen that neither my *ist D or DS hanged up.
