I am trying to understand what is unique about the "Normal (Smiley Face) mode as opposed to using the Program mode on my DS.
Thanks

The program curve (setting of Av and Tv by the camera) is the same, but you can't change image tone, color saturation, contrast and sharpness in the Smiling face mode. These are locked to Bright (Vivid), and all zeros. Moreover, in the Picture Modes, the flash will automatically popped up.
