Before I bought my Pentax DS I had a Fuji S5200. On the fuji it had a thread size of 55mm. I bought 2 filter and a 3+ close up lense for it. Now that I sold the camera, I have 3 extra filter. I bought all 3 of them at ritzcamera for about $50 total because it was buy 2 get 1 free. The brand is quantaray.

I have 3 lense for my pentax. The stock 18-55mm with a 52mm thread, a sigma 28-200mm with a 62mm thread and a sigma 100-300mm with a 55mm thread. For the 2 months that I've own the camera I've been shooting without any filter. It wasnt until this weekend that I realized that I can be messing up my lense from the rain without any protection! Now it wasnt really raining down hard or anything, if that was the case, I wouldnt dare to bring my camera out. It was only sprinking a little bit, on and off but enough for the drops to drip on the lense.

My question is should I buy step up/down ring for each the two other lenses to make my filter work? or should I just buy new UV filter for each lense. Is there any disadvantage of using a set up/down ring?

Also another question, is there any special way to clean the water drop from my lense? Can I use the cleaning wet lens cleaning tissue that I use to clean my glasses? These are special package of wet tissues design for cleaning my glasses.

step down is fine. step up and you will probably get vignetting(?). you are also pretty safe using your glasses wipes. i'd also get a lenspen. about $7-10.. they work great..
