something kind of like bily's mount on the 600.
At your service. The making of this device requires some little material supply, and, most important, a brother skilled in welding. I was fortunate enough to have both.

No problem with balancing my little lightweight 100-300mm (camera and all about 870grams, less that 2 lbs total) but guys you still may have a problem. Kjell's mount for the 600mm still makes use of a tripod mount that already exists on the lens, it just moves the pivot point forward for better balance. The 300mm lenses you mention do not have a tripod mount at all. Kirk Enterprises makes mounts for the Nikon lenses, I don't know if their part, or its basic design, could be adapted to the Pentax lenses. The link is http://www.kirkphoto.com/lenscollars.html

BTW, I think maybe I read too much!

The Nikon collar http://www.kirkphoto.com/lenscollars.html looks like the one I took off the Sigma and still requires some place to place the collar on the lens. The adapter that Kjell shows is much more adaptable to almost any long lens and since tripod mounts use 1/4 20 screw threads it should be fairly easy to manufacture.

I think it may be time to break out the Mig Welder and make one for myself.

Thanks!

The reason I need the support is with the A-1.4X-S on my 300 and 200 the weight is shifted quite a bit to the front and I want to relieve the stress on the camera body.

A forum member on dpreview had her camera body separate from the weight of a A* 300 hanging off the DS body.

And of course the American Robin:

A busy morning in my wet, icy, snowy back yard.
