i looking to get this lens because of portraits.do you think i just need to get the 24-60mm?

Its really up to you what combination of lenses you want in your kit I'd get the 24-60 and then add a 50mm -M/A/F/FA from Pentax.

I purchased a SMC-M 50/1.7 on ebay for $21. Sure, you have to manual focus and meter (AE-L button)- but its a great lens, sharp - even wide open - and you can't beat the price.

Is this the sigma 50mm EX macro? If so ive used it and its pretty good and will do you a 1:1 macro, and the 2.8 is pretty quick for most things and will give you a nice portrait shot
