This seems to be a very popular topic around here. I don't own one but I couldn't help but notice the number of people here that do. I would like to know how it compares to the FAJ 75-300mm ( the Sigma has a metal mount compared to plastic on the Pentax for what it's worth). Maybe that question should be included:

Is this Sigma better than the Pentax FAJ 75-300mm.

I have this lens and found it to be very compact. AF is good and macro is only available between 200-300mm. Read the instructions too, because there is a macro focus switch that can only be set when focal length is between 200-300mm and cannot be returned to normal focus until you have retracted the focusing ring. Caught me out a few times, thought the switch was stuck.

I found the lens to be sharp and have taken some good shots with it. I recommend it as a good lens for the price.

Sigma 70-300mm, 210mm, f4.5, 1/125sec +0.5 exp comp, cropped.

I have the Sigma 75-300 APO DG Macro (Non Super)version and I love it. I Cannot say how it compares to the non-DG version or the Pentax.

i've the same lens. gold ring and all. it's the older version, macro at 300 only. it's soft at 70 and 300. especially at f4. in between it's fine. stop it down and it's a good preformer. macros are tough because the lens is about 9'' long in macro. for the price, you can't go wrong..
f8 at 150mm and quite a bit of PP.

i've got one of the older ones too with macro only at 300mm. not enough experience to compare with other lenses but will just say it stays on my dl all the time only coming off briefly for wide shots with the 18-55 kit lens.

here's some friends' crocuses, 300mm on macro, f/18 at 1/15 sec. on a tripod.
