Ira,

A couple of comments:

1. Firstly, congratulations on proving the mettle of the amateur/enthusiast level equipment. In the field of photogrpahy,I have often believed that the equipment is only second to a good eye (the old adage of a bad carpenter blaming his tools holds here)! You're image looks great to my "amateur" eye.

2. I think the key difference in the pro equipment is in the following areas: durability for prolonged heavy duty use/abuse, speed of operation, low operational noise (the sound of an SLR clicking can be distracting in certain circumstances). The last area is in the area of optics where in some circumstances "magazine" quality pictures are essential.

Having said that, there are some excellent results that can be obtained with quality, yet basicequipment. Similar to yourself, I see great value in the DL and others in its class. Professional equipment would clearly be wasted on me!!

SMC A* 85 mm 1.4 @ f2.0 1/20 sec ISO 400.

Very nice and it doesn't hurt to be using one of the best lenses Pentax ever made.

bilylianca,
I love to have a great portrait lens like 85mm 1.4 which is best for such lighting and distance.
BTW she campaigned on barefoot? Tough huh? Or she walked long miles for the speech?

She is known for her resentment to wearing shoes! And I'm very happy to have the lens. But I find the 50mm 1.4 nearly as good.
