I have three old lenses (early 1970s, pentax screw mounts) that I'd like to experiment with on my DL (Soligor 350mm, Soligor 35-105mm Macro, and Mamiya/Sekor 50mm). Will this adaptor do the job, or is there a different adaptor that I need? Suggestions of adaptors and sources most welcome.

Thanks, Mike

Mike

You got me on that one, most screw mout lenses are M42 and some rarer older M39, I am not sure if your lenses are T mount.

T mount and M42 screw mount are the same diameter but different thread pitch and not compatable. If you screw an M42 lens onto a T mount it will go on but then cross thread and not fit properly.

If you are chasing M42 adapter like this one

They are quite common on Ebay, personally if it is M42 get a genuine Pentax brand one and that way you know it will fit the Pentax AND work properly.

Take your lenses into a camera store and get them to check the screw type and tell you if they are M42, which I think they will be.

Someone else out there that knows specifically about Mike's lens types might want to chip in here and confrm that they ARE M42 screw mount and not T mount.

Crash :O

by the looks the description is wrong and should actually say T mount adapter for Pentax k mount

Thanks for the reply and for looking at this item. The seller does not know what it does so I'm forgetting about that one.

The body that I have (which the lens were originally for is a Mamiya / Sekor 500 TL and I got it for my 21st birthday... which was a long time ago!

On closer inspection the 50 mm and the 35-105 have the threads cut into the "body" of the lens; whereas, the 300 mm has an adapter on it (held in place with 3 small screws) thathas a white "P" on it (presumably for Pentax). I'm guesssing the proper adapter was just added to this lens to make it fit different mounts. It appears this could be replaced with a "permanent" adapter that might convert this lens to a K mount that would go on the DL directly ... is that possible? The other 2 lenses would seem to need the screw to K mount adapter like the one you suggest.

I did some more searching of this list and there seems to be a couple of different adapter types, some of which work and some affect focal length. I also have a 2x converter and a set of extension tubes that I'd forgotten about ... more stuff to experiment with :-)

Another question. When I was searching for adapters on eBay there seem to be several that covert one type of lens to other manufacturer's bodies. I also have Canon lenses (from my A1) ... is there a converter to mount these sucessfully on the DL? They are very nice lenses ... wide angle, 1.4 main lens, and a couple of nice zooms. Sure would be nice to take advantage of these.

Cheers, Mike

when buying these adapters you have to be real careful. a lot of them cause the lens to lose infinity focus, a lot of them. ask the seller and if he doesn't know or thinks it'll work then avoid it. for the small price i'd suggest getting it from B&H or adorama. about $25us delivered..
