I finally got my DL last night and first thing this morning I took a few test pictures. Nice to have a camera once more that inspires me to go out early in the morning looking for subjects to photograph ... so these indeed are "morning after" pictures.

Maple buds shot at 55mm, F8, 1/350, ISO 200

Cats shot at 40 mm, F8, 1/125, ISO 200

Geranium shot at 55 mm, F8, 1/90, ISO 200

All shot in RAW and cropped/resized in Paintshop Pro ... no image processing. Experimenting with size and resolution for viewing so let's hope for the best.

Welcome in the digiSLR world, and welcome on the forum. Nice pics, may I guess that you have held a camera before you got your DL?

Thanks for the welcome Kjell and Roy ... yeh, I've had a few cameras before ... Mamiya/Sekor 500TL back early 70s, Canon A1 in early 80s, and a couple of Olympus digital P&S cameras that gave (and still give) great service and produced very nice snapshots. Both sons getting married this summer was the "excuse" to invest in a better camera. I'm very pleased with the DL so far.

For the collective wisdom of the group ... any way to adapt my Canon A1 lenses to the DL?

I'm working on tracking down adapters for the old Pentax screw mount style Soligor lenses I still have ... I know that can be done and have noted the concerns about infinity focusing with some of the adapters.

Cheers, Mike
