Good day to all.....

I've been thinking about an alternative ,to buying a D50.
Reason being , I already own an Pentax Sfx 35 mm ,with 2 AF lenses.

I understand that the Ds2 has more advanced features than the
Dl2. What I do not understand is , the price/performance ratio...

Unfortunately, I'm not well educated in the digital thecnical jargon...

Could I ,please , have some opinions ?

Thank you

Look around for some comparisons between DL and DS - they are similar for DL2 and DS2

From what I recall, differences are minimal -

DS2 has a pentaprism viewfinder, DL2 has pentamirror. prisms are clearer and sharper, cover more of the field of view - the mirror is slightly brighter. both are loads better than the offerings from Nikon, Olympus and Canon - its important if you plan on using manual focus lenses for sure. but really nice to look thru for auto focus as well.

DS2 has 11 focus points, DL2 has 5. This is only important if you like to select somewhere other than the center to be your focus point.

DS2 I believe supports old school TTL flashes - DL2 only newer P-TTL. Someone else will have to give detail on this, since I don't really understand the differences.

Otherwise they are basically the same.

I was really considering the DS2 before I purchased my DL2 in March. Part of the reason was it will work with a Pentax specific TTL flash gun that I have. But the price of the DS2 with the basic 18-55 kit lense is more than the DL2 withdual lense. Don't know about you,but I rather have the DL2 with the extra 50-200 DA lense than the extra features ofthe DS2. Iam really happy with mydecision as I find out I use the 50-200 mm lense al lot more frequently then the 18-55.
