Thanks to the advice and huge amount of info on this forum, plus the excellent review by Steve, I have taken the plunge and purchased the *istDL2.

Got a good deal for a twin lens kit, plus a discount!

To repeat what everyone who upgrades says.... so much faster and better than my Kodak Z740 which this is replacing.

Welcome in our herd! (Some would call it a nerd-herd, but I don't mind)

Congrats on the new camera - if your experience is anything like mine was with a Panasonic FZ30, the difference will be like night and day. Have a great time taking LOTS of pictures!

Fred666, congrats! Got my DL2 back at March and never look back since. Sure you will enjoy your DL2 as much as I am. Good choice!

Also just bought a DL2 today from Jessops. Looked like a good deal. Almost bought a Pentax 50-200mm lens as well but thought I would hold off until I had had a play with it ( I am a complete novice) The Pentax just felt better than the Nikon D50
