I was just wondering, we all make comments about different lenses we like but does anyone have an absolute favourite.

Mine is the Sigma 24-135mm f2.8-4.5 (I got one that worked), and although I do not use it much, the SMC M 50mm f1.7 (hoping to find an F or FA version I can afford).

Maybe I'm lazy, but even though I have some very nice M-series manual lenses (28, 50, 75-150), and they work great, I keep the 18-55mm kit lens on my DS2 almost all the time. It's autofocus, it's wide, and I like the results.

Ira,
I suppose favourite lens is the lens that you always have it on your camera rather than your bag. For me it has got to be FA50mm1.4. Your M50 1.7 is just another great lens no doubt about it.
The other lens I like most are FA135mm2.8 & FA100 Macro 2.8. 135 never fails to amuse me with its capability ,sharpness & bokeh.
BTW I return my Kenko 2x which is really not bad at all. But it is still additional glass in front of the camera. It was a good toy with some color distortion. Somehow it does not suit my shooting style.

Dan, I too am lazy, which is why I seldom use any of my MF lenses. The 24-135mm is a range I like and I use the 18-55mm when I need the wider angle and the 100-300mm when I want the extra reach. I really like the results from the 50mm but would prefer an AF model. (In defence of my laziness, since I started wearing bifocals a few years ago I have been having some difficulty with manual focus)

fiftiesdean, that 12-24mm must be nice.

Daniel, if my 50mm was AF Iwould probablydo the same thing.

Ira

Keep em' coming

Right now I have my new Tamron 28-300 on it, but have not had much time to take pictures yet...however, the lens does extend so far out that if I injure myself I can turn the camera vertical with the lens extended and use it as a cane...:-):blah:

FA* 300mm f/4.5 is always on the DS and I switch from that if need be.

I have the kit lens 18-55, a Sigma 28-300, and a Sigma 18-125. The 18-125 is the one lens if I could have only one. It is my primary lens but I do like the 28-300. Yea the 18-125 would be it, great all-a-round lens.

Gee that would be an ideal lens for my 2nd camera body if I can find one FA*300mm that is affordable!:sad:
Meanwhile I am thinking about getting another DL for the longest prime (FA135mm2.8) I have. Birdie pict are just hit and miss - no - I would say the bird has to come over within my limited range and stay for portrait. Otherwise my pict will only show tiny birds.
