out for a walk today.. got some decent results..

Crapemyrtle, Lagerstroemia indica

again??? looks like a big flea. very lucky to get the 2nd one in focus

I really like the crype myrtle. You got some strange looking bugs in Texas. Of course, some of them may be here and I just haven't looked close enough. Nice macros.

i think there are wierd looking bugs everywhere.. you just have to look for them.

Why? You are getting better results using ingenuity and available parts than many people are getting with high end macro gear. Seriously though, you have done some great work here and a macro lens would definitely be a benefit to you, perhaps the old bellows and bellows lens from the old MF Pentax lines (K-mount or M42).

ira,
i sorely covet a true 1:1 macro.. these were shot w/a M100f4 w/30mm ET. the viewfinder is just not quite bright enough for me. with a f2.8 i'll be able to focus better because i'll be getting more light. these were all also shot w/flash. there are some instances where i just can't see to focus.
