Got the 2 kit lenses and both come with lens hoods - no problem so far. However, they both have a little hole that can be pushed out - says "open" on the hood.



Q- What is this for? and why would you want a hole in the lens hood?

To make it possible to rotate a polarizer filter with your fingertip without taking off the hood first. It's very conveninent.

It allows you to be able to rotate a circular polarizer with the lens hood on...

it's so you can adjust a circular polarizer..

It is there to allow you to adjust directional filters such as polarizers when the lens hood is attached.

Did I hear something about an echo?
