The lens came today, and is it a honker. For me, it is way too big to hand hold at full zoom--I will have to use a tripod or beanbag to hold it.

I will post a few samples--most are at full zoom, but I didn't have a notebook with me, so I can't say what the other settings were.

Tried some difficult flower shots (red) using full zoom and macro modes--none of the pics posted have had anything done to them other than minjor exposure tweaks and resising

The lens is very sharp and contrasty. It will take a while for me to get used to it, but I think I'm going to enjoy it.

You never mentioned what size is it, I am guessing 300/f4 of 200/f4??

70-210mm, f/3.5 made by Kiron in the 70s (I think)

I can relate to that with my Tamron 80-250 f3.5, not as big as my 300/f4, but dam big and heavy though.

It looks like this lens is sharper than the Kiron 80-200 macro I have. I think yours might be an earlier (and better?)lens, though maybe I need to play with the Kiron again and use a tripod more - it's not a light-weight, either.
