I have today off before I head to St Louis for a wedding over the weekend. Went out to shoot this morning, but didn't get many before the rain came...

Nice shots.

If you are really in toflower shotsmake sure you check out the Missouri Botanical Garden while you're in STL.

There are also some great photo opportunities at Grant's Farm. You get two free frosty cold beers too!

Thanx for the info. I'm not sure how much time I will have while I'm in St Louis. This is a wedding/family reunion with people coming in from Europe, Russia, and all over the states. I hope to have a few hours of "free" time on Sunday before our plane leaves.

Don't forget about the St. Louis Zoo, also! It's one of the few free zoos in the country! And the variety of animals is awesome! Sorry, I'm kinda partial ... I live about 20minutes from there (in Illinois). The Botanical Gardens are also highly recommended (also a member) but I haven't been to Grant's Farm in years (on my list for this summer though)

Enjoy your w/e!

I am located in south-central, Minnesota. The lens is the DA 50-200mm. It's Sunday today, and we have reservations for the Gateway Arch tram ride at noon. We may try to stop at the zoo or Union Station before we have to leave for the airport at 4 p.m.

Still don't have a macro lens but the 70-210mm f4 SMC Pentax A arrived today. Just a few of the "flowers" (read, "weeds") in our back yard. Hand held in a 40-50km/h wind so not that sharp.

Gone to seed:

Here are some local plants,

The Pitcher Plant, a carnivorous plant that is a symbol of Newfoundland:

This iris seems to be growing in unusually dry areas, notice the raindrops, this was after a shower:

I don't know what this plant is but it was covered in some sort of flying insects, it was on the edge of a cliff so I wouldn't dare go closer to investigate:

Hope you don't mind me resurrecting this thread, I didn't want to start a new one with only these pictures.

Ira,

I have a whole new admiration for those pesky dandelions that I pay a lawn service to eradicate!! The picture of the Iris is and A+ (Did you do much editing?)

Rickst: Hope you have a good visit to STL--looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Regards, Jay
