I happened to take a couple of pictures while I was waiting for my hubby to pick me up after work. I've been trying to take a good picture of these flowers, however they like the shade, and I don't have a full sized tripod at work. So after our recent discussions, I tried the on-line flash when I found this fellow on one of the flowers. Is he some type of grasshopper?

The pictures are 100% crops - no resizing, or sharpening of any sort. They were shot in raw and processed using ACR with CS2 (did adjust levels a bit). This is a really nice lens.

I don't know what it is, but it looks more like some sort of flea than a grasshopper to me...
Notice the absence of wings, which grasshoppers do have.

Nice shots by the way

Harriet, please stop posting these pictures, they are making me want a proper macro lens. This is an excellent shot, it looks great even at 100%.

Keep up the good work, but warn me not to look.

LOL! I know what you mean - all of the photos thatyou (both collective and you personally, Ira)post were making me want to just give up - I don't think mine are half as good as what all you post. If it hadn't been for some of your suggestions (like use flash) I would never have taken this one. And the credit really belongs to the Phoenix lens - I took 5 shots and all of them were reasonably good (or is manual focus just that much easier with such a sharp lens?).

This lens is definitely worth a look for someone in the market for a "proper" macro.

Harriet!

Good equipment may be of some help for a good photographer, but good equipment can't take a picture on it's own. The credit is to you, not to the lens! :|

Oh, it's a katydid! Thanks for the info - I've never paid attention to bugs - maybe I'll have to start looking at guides.
