Took these today on my bike ride into town.

sometimes tom you just PMO with these great shots.lol. not at you tho.

I couldn't get that shot hand held if my life depended on it. Nice job. I assume you weren't riding the bike while taking the shot. :G That would really be impressive.

yeah, i've got four of the 1st one, green heron, living not 50' from my back door and i've yet to get a shot like that.. you're PMO tom!!!!!! lol

NO!!! he was probably standing on the handle bars to get enough height.

Not riding the bike (it is a recumbent) but standing in bike shoes with clips at the edge of the pond. Taking my DS along makes my daily bicycle ride a bit more fun and gives me a break when I see something I may want to take photos of.

I shoot in single image mode, so I had to press and release for each shot, then the AF was of no use because of all the Lilly Pads, so I had to focus manually. I took three shots, one very blurry, the next almost there and then finally I got the Heron in focus with the last shot of it flying.

(almost there)


It is always refreshing to check the LCD on my DS and find at least one of the flying shots to be in focus, making the time spent stalking the bird worthwhile. The Heron flushed four times before I got in a place where I could even attempt a shot and then there were only seconds to make it work.
