Hi Everyone - I have another question. I notice looking on Ebay (looking not buying), that a lot of the 50mm, F1.4 Takumars have a yellow look to them. I don't remember seeing any of the old Takumars I have that were that way. Is this a sign of age and does it affect the hue of the pictures? Here is a link to one I was just looking at - Bruce

there is a way of clearing the yellow. i'll have to look for it tho. yes it affects the image. i think this is due to the glass being just a tad radioactive.. this sticks in my head but the reference is there.. try googleing ''yellow lenses''. i'm going to bed..

I had read that too, apparently to correct the lens all you do is sit it in the open on some foil to help with reflection and leave it there for a day or two or three.

Apparently the Sun does something to it and turns the lens clear again.

Sun tan maybe ?? :blah:

right,CM, i'll try to find it again. the aluminum foil trick works well on fungus. set a lens on it and leave it in the midday sun for 3 hours. the UV kills it. i recently treated all mine just in case..

Good link Roy. It just seems that a lot of the 50mm F/1.4 lenses on Ebay are pretty yellow these days. It doesn't seem to slow people down from bidding on them. I wonder if this affects the new FA 50mm F/1.4? The rebate makes it pretty attractive - Bruce
