This is an old tripod I picked up at an auction years ago. I put a QR adaptor on it, and it holds my Vivitar Series 1 rock steady.

As I said in my other post, this head seems to have a better center of gravity--at least part of the lens weight is centered directly over where the legs come together.

Looks well used. And looks like it deserves to be used! Wish I could find something like it, my present tripod/pan head isn't really up to the job.

I bought it at an estate auction of a pro photographer from a town about 15 miles from here--picked it up for $15.00. It is heavy, though.

with this head , it looks like you have the cam mounted at the nodal point of the lens. the way it's set back over the pan of the lens should make it great for panos.
ck it out..
