Saw this fox watching a mouse today and had the DS with my 80-200mm lens!

Love it! Neat lighting, sharp fur, but the poor thing looks so scrawny.

They all look pretty bad during the summer around here because they shed most of their fur to keep cool.

See Roy, I can use a lens other than my 300 although it was very hard to take it off the camera and I did have it with me in the bag just in case I needed a fix!

Wow! What lens is that 80-200? a DA? It's so sharp! Did you use a tripod?

No tripod, hand held, it is a lens from my film camera not a digital lens, a FA* 80-200mm 2.8 Pentax.

ISO 400, 1/500 sec at f/5.6, 190mm.

if im not mistaken, FA lenses do not work with the camera's auto features, right? Like no autofocus and in-camera aperture?

FA is Fully Automatic, just not a Digital Lense. If the remember correctly the Progression is this.

M- Full Manuel

F-Auto focus, Manuel aperature

A-Auto Aperature, Manuel Focus

FA-Fully Auto

DA- Digital Only-fully Auto

All my FA and FA* lenses work perfectly with my DS, the only feature that does not work is the Powerzoom feature some of them have.

My F lenses have all the features as the FA lenses and they all work with my DS, but the FA lenses are designed to choose a f/stop and shutter speed that works best for the lens design.

gee tom,
you even slowed down some too. i mean, really, f5.6??

great shot BTW

Progression is this.

M42 screw mount- must be shut down to meter and take the shot.

K- full manual, auto stop down, must press the AE_L button to meter before releasing the shutter

M- Full Manuel, auto stop down, must press the AE_L button to meter before releasing the shutter

A-Auto Aperature, Manuel Focus, auto stop down and reads the shutter speed from a wide open lens.

F-Auto focus,Auto aperature

FA-Fully Auto

DA- Digital Only-fully Auto

thanks phil(BK) only had to add a little.
