you've got WB completely wrong. I've spent 10 sec. adjusting white balance and contrast/brightness in Picasa and here's result (no fancy stuff, just nice photo):

Edvinas, No I didn't get the WB wrong. :blah:

The original pictures represent exactly how it looked to my eye at the time. The weather and time of day created a great blue effect and the image that you have created is correct if the time of day was say about 2 hours earlier and was more daylight.
Great conversion by the way. :-D

The weather is still miserable and if it looks like it is going to be the same I will go back and do a series of shots at each WB setting and you will see the difference.

I like the effect on the first edited version (the blue one).

The house is a little "overdone" in my opinion...some extra contrast in the original one would have been enough to make it a great shot.

This boat house picture might be a candidate for selective desat, maybe go b&w for all except the ramp - I like the lines of the ramp, so that's what I'd emphasize. I could see doing just the house, too, as an emphasis that here is where the fun starts and all else is drab.

My first reaction to the original pp on the boat house was that it was too much for me, but gradually changed my mind the more I looked at it. It's not my usual "thing" but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it.

I found the Boat Shed to have a wonderful aspect for photography, when I was shooting this other night there were three other photographers there.
