Thanks Pat and Roy. Pat, those shots of the Peregrine are definitely different than the shots I took. Dave over on the wildlife forum thinks it's a Merlin. I've never even heard of a Merlin, but Dave knows his stuff. He's probably right I would think. Thanks for looking, and posting those other shots of the Peregrine.......cheers.....Don.

Hmmm - Merlins and Peregrines are related, and Merlin was my first thought when looking at pictures in my book. However, since you are from B.C. and the book talked about the pealei, and the picture in the book made the mask less distinct, I figured you were right to assume it was a Peregrine. And the book goes on to say that the Merlins are small falcons and"suggest a miniture Peregine."

Don't ask me - I know absolutely nothing about birds, and yesterday was the first day I actually looked up some things in this book. However, I do know a nice picture, and this is certainly a good one, regardless of what type of bird it is!
