I would really like to hear how many people here own the istD and how many came afterwards.

Given the price difference I would suspect D owners to be rather scarce.

The *istD was far too expensive for what it had to offer, which is why I didn't buy one and waited for the DS.

Tom-

That was exactly how it was for me as well. I admired the 1st D, but waited for the DS which is still a very capable DSLR in its own right. Though I have to own up to the fact, that I did not hesitate at all when it came to the K100D. The K100D has beenan excellent investment, and I really like it a lot.

I too waited for the introduction of the DS. When I tried them both, I had no choice. Coming from the Z-1, I had no learning curve on the D. Everything works the way I've trained myself to operate. Additionally, the lack of true Hypermodes on the DS, along with other missing key features clinched it.

The similarities have kept me on the full-frame lens track. The restrictions that come with this path has probably saved me the difference in body cost. Instead of getting new DA lenses, I've been led to buying mostly used F and FA lenses.

I have no regrets.

I tryed the "D"and liked it. But I liked the DS Much Better, so Thats what I Got.
Myself, i am very happy with my DS. So I am waiting for the K10D, before i even think about upgrading.

I really liked the look of the D body(more controls on buttons instead of menus) but I could not afford it...

These are very interesting remarks. I bought mine because, believe it or not, it was a Pentax, without thinking of future or other models. Hmmm.

I wouldn't part with the D under any circumstances - I'll buy other models in the future, like I did in the pre-digital-age.

The result of the poll is confirming that there really aren't that many D owners using this particular forum.

Thanks for participating.

Well, if it is any consolation I would have bought a D if I could have afforded it.
