Does anyone know if a form-fitted case is available for the DL? I've searched this forum and the web with no success. I had one for my K1000 to cover the body and lens without the need to carry a camera bag. Thanks!

I think the ever-ready (or was that never ready) case is a thing of the past. The top loader zoom bag offers a reasonably small package that just takes camera with short zoom and a pocket for extra cards and batteries. I bought a very inexpensive Optex that I use all the time when I don't need more.It is shown in this picture:

I don't know if this would be suitable for you.

Here is a link to the Pentax web page. They do show one, but I don't think it is exactly form fitted. I used to have a form fitting one for my old Spotmatic. They sure were nice. Like Ira says, I don't think they make them like that anymore - Bruce

My DS kit (bought from Costco in January) came withthe Pentax case. Here's a picture of the DS in it, I had the Phoenix lens on the camera (not much longer than the 50-200). There's also a pocket in the front. It's not a bad case, but not like the form-fitting one that I used on the ME. Please excuse the photo - it was taken with my old Sony F717. It took me a while to figure out how to work it (flash, etc.). The EVF and LCD might not be particularly useable, but it still takes nice pictures.

That's what I was afraid of. Michigan Stadium has a size restriction on bags - 8.5 x 5.5. It's good to have something to protect it from bumps; a form-fitted case would have been perfect. Oh well. Thanks for your help

The lack of a fitted case bothers me! My old ME Super and Super Program look almost new after almost 25 years due to these cases.

I had a fitted case with my Pentax K2. However, being black & well used (AND well looked after) it wasn't too long before the paint started to wear allowng brass metalwork (those were the days) to show through.

I use a Lowepro case which provides the same features as those shown above which works fine.

Hi David,

I thought the same thing until I realized that a fitted case wouldn't be much more than a skeleton. It couldn't cover the bottom without voiding access to the battery compartment. The sides would have to have cutouts for the card and accessory plug doors. The back -- well, not much that you could cover without really getting in the way of buttons, LCD and controls. Covering the grip section would make it too thick and cut down the clearance between it and the lens, so your fingers probably wouldn't fit.

I think that you'd be more upset with How little protection was afforded by your new $50 fitted case. :O)
