Hi all, I am a new DL owner, and this is my first non P & S camera and 2nd camera ever. I am very impressed with the DL so far with what little experience I have with it (I bought it last week.) Attached are some pictures that I took with the kit lens. The first one is a shark captured through a thick aquarium wall at Moody Gardens in Galveston.

Pic # 5 Buddy's big nose a fraction of a second after burping into the camera lens. I should have used a higher f-stop on this one, but I am still learning.

My apologies. Next time I post pictures, I will lower the rez to around 640X480 so that they properly display here. Noob error. :-(

One more picture.

I received my Tamron 70-300mm this evening. The lens is bigger than I expected, but it does not reach out as far as I was expecting. With that said, I definitely wouldn't want to walk around with anything larger!

Before the darkness prevailed, I was able to capture a tree rat in the neighbor's tree. This was at 300mm handheld with poor light, so the picture is not as sharp as I would have liked. Also, it much harder to prevent camera shake than I expected at 300mm. Maybe my hold technique will improve with experience. I know about red eye removal, but what about white eye removal? LoL

Welcome wicked.

I have the Tamron and it really isn't that heavy unless you're going to walk-around for any length of time then it gets tiring. Actually I was thinking of getting a wrist support because I do so much walking around with that lens.
