In most of the pentax cameras they say it has a DOF preview. What does that mean. I know what the depth of field is but how do they preview (lcd? viewfinder?) thanks.

welcome to the board,
DOF preview closes down the lens to the aperture you or the cam has selected. the larger the f-stop number, the smaller the aperture you are shooting at. more DOF comes with the smallest aperture. when you invoke this it will close donw the aperture to show you what all will be in focus.. it really takes time and experience to see the results when you first start using this. i'd suggest a google search , r just about all of these type of questions. no one has the time to give a in depth tutorial on it..

The K100D has 2 types of preview, and the default setting for preview isn't the DOF one. They call that "optical" preview and you have a setting in the custom menu to change the camera so that it will do that when you use the preview function on the camera. Otherwise the camera takes a picture and puts it on the LCD, but doesn't write it to the card. They call that "digital" review and that's the default setting.
