I am looking for a zoom lens to go on my DL. Anybody have any exp. with these lens and how do the prices look?

The last one seems interesting, I'm actually watching an auction for it myself, was wondering if anyone knew anything about it:

it's the Tamron 28-200 XR IF, and it's got a +500$ list price...

I read a review that said it produces very sharp pictures, it's very light & compact, however, there's quite some distortion. (distortion= straight lines getting bent in the picture. Like Pincushion and barrel distortion)

I would stay away from the 28-300's, the lens will compromise in quality with such a whopping zoom range.

Vivitar has a good reputation for their glass, but the 28-210 you're showing (first link) seems a little slow (small max. aperture).

Hi Chad

I have heard that the Sigma 70-300mm APO lens is pretty good but I have no experience with it. You might want to take a look here:

I have a Sigma 70-300 but it's the DG, anyway, it's pretty good I think.

I also have the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro. I Agree for the money its a great lense.
