If I suspect a lense has fungus but want to keep the lense.. does it spread?

I mean if I keep one old lense I like that may have it, is it common for it to jump ship to my camea or other lenses?

The problem is I had one lense come in that I was pretty sure did have it. I sent that one back.

I just got another in the other day and I am not so sure. I need to clean it again and then try to maybe somehow take a pic.

But anyway, what are the general thoughts on lens rot, is it contagious ?

some say -no
some say -maybe

one way of killing it is tou set the lens on the shiny side of some aluminum foil with the front of the lense facing down. place this outside around 10am on a sunny day for about 4 hours so the sun shines into it. the UV will kill the rot.
