OK, I know that I am continuing to shop simply because my camera is not here yet. I know I should wait and play with all of the lenses I already have ordered. I know I never listen to my own good advice.

Has anyone here ever played with a bellows macro set up? It seems to offer a good bit of flexibility in exchange for bulkiness. I am looking at these two ebay auctions in combination:

Has anyone here trod this path before? Dire warnings and predictions of doom appreciated. My wife is joking that she will be taking pictures of our children playing and I will be taking pictures of the hair on a flea's butt. Seriously, any thoughts either positive or negative on using a bellows macro system would be appreciated.

Had a quick play with the M42 bellows I bought. More fiddly than I thought, but then I figured I would spend some time with them in the winter when I spend more time indoors.

You can get really close though, but you do need some decent lighting.

I think Roy will have more info and useful tips.
