Hi, I have just joined the forum and hope you can help.

I am on the verge of buying a K100d (not out yet in UK) but might wait for the D10.I have apentax 35mm setup including the AF500FTZ flashgun. Can anyone tell me if this flashgun will work with the new digital cameras? I thnink this is a TTl vs P-TTL issue. If it won't that might be one less reason for sticking with pentax. Thanks.

Hey colrog and welcome. I think if you did a quick search for that flash in this forum you will get your answer AND more.

Thanks for the welcome.

I was trying to avoid a search as I knew that would lead me to spending a lot of time reading interesting stuff - as it has.

Anyway, the answer from here seems to be no.

I have also been in contact with pentax and they have confirmed that the K100d won't work fully with a TTL only flashgun. It will fire, but that seems to be about all.

They also state that the new 10MP camera will also only be P-TTL compatible.

Welcome to the forum, colrog-

I am afraid that the K100D does indeed use a P-TTL based flash, and yes, it is rumored that the K10D will alsouse P-TTL flashes as well. The Sigma EF 500, and the Pentax AF 360 do however, work well on the K100D.
