I was looking too buy a k100d and i was thinking of instead of getting the australian sigma kit (18-50 and 55-200) i would get the pentax kit lens and the da 50-200. But, when iwas seacrhing for them on google i culd only find the 18-55 in australia, Not the 50-200 . So i was wondering if any asutralians got one here or will i have to import one? thanks.

CR Kennedy is the Australian Distributor for both Pentax and Sigma and it seems they favour the Sigma lenses which is why these are always included as the kit lens options.

Your best bet would be to call them and see if they import this model. Be warned that buying lenses from them is expensive. As an example my Sigma 18-125mm came as a kit witha $165 premium to the K100D body only price while the lens on its own is $475!

For what it's worth I'm enjoying usingthe Sigma 18-125mm. The focal rangemakes itreally handy and it seems to produce pretty decent results. Crashman posted some beauties from this lens on another thread.

Buy those lenses in USA online shops. It will be much cheaper than ordering them from CR Kennedy.

And avoid Sigma 18-50 at any cost! It is probably the worst 18-50(55) ever made

Contrary, Pentax DA 18-55 is the best among kit lenses of such focal lengths.

The sigma 18-50 isnt too bad, its not a super expensive lens but it gets the job done. Slap a polarizer on it and its golden.

Also i didnt know that C.R Kennedy retailed to the public

Could you name 18-50(55) lense for DSLR which is worse than Sigma 18-50/3,5-5,6?

CR Kennedy doesn't sell direct but they can tell you if they import this model and whether they would need to order it in or which retailer may have it in stock in your area.

I suspect it would be cheaper to import from the US.

I've ordered several cameras and lenses from B&H. They may not be the cheapest, but they are quick, reliable and have a large stock. I tried to order a DA 50-200 lens from buydig, but they ran out before they processed my order. I didn't want to wait, and they promptly canceled my order and didn't charge my credit card. I'd be willing to order from them again, and they are usually cheaper than B&H.
