So, finally I broke down and ordered this zoom lens fro KEH. Not a scratch on it and it seems to work fine.

Today I visited the Milwaukee Zoo and took a bunch of pictures. They can be viewed at http://picasaweb.google.com/feroz.ghouse (I have not figured out how to upload pictures yet - :-)). The album is titled Milwaukee Zoo.... Oh, feel free to browse too.

Now, the pictures of the animals...most of them were behind glass. The birds were behind wire mesh grills. I have cropped and sharpened the images using Picasa. Not muchs of anything else was done to the pictures. Some exhibit noise because of cropping and high ISO (400). I did use a vivitar flash set on manual.

I welcome feedback that would help me become better...and please be kind to me. This is my first formal post...been lurking for a long time.

Liked the photos, especially the ones of the leopard. I saved one of them for a desktop picture. Gotta get my K100D soon...

Thanks for posting the photos.

I love the zoo shots! The leopard ones are best. Great color, sharpness and perfect contrast. I also like the quality of the "50 buck lens" shots very sharp. Same lens as zoo shots?

Thank you for the kind comments.

Actually, it is a Jaguar. He and the tiger were both very active yesterday!

It was hard taking the pictures because most of them were indoor with simulated lighting. Not having a "proper" flash was definitely a handicap. I had to think back to a lot of what was said in Sarah's flash thread :-). Thanks Sarah.

Also not making excuses here...I did not take a tripod with me (covering for camera shake). Next time I will and I will wait till schools start and go during the week - less crowds to deal with.

Yes, the "50 buck lens shots" of my youngest son were also shot with the same lens.

Very nicely done! There are many of them that I like, definitely the cats, I like the rhino, and one of the monkeys very much also.

This is a link to all things Pentax K-mount. No reviews here but all of the technical specs for all of the Pentax K-mount lenses.
