The cranes are out feeding getting ready for the trip south when the weather get a bit colder. This was early in the morning, so the light is fairly harsh coming from the front of the bird.

Roy,

We have no pelicans here at all for some reason even though I know they are in Minnesota just as far north as I am. I just noticed that the Cranes are out in force eating all day which I figure is getting ready to go south.

I've seen some cranes preparing for their long trip, but i haven't been successful trying to take a photo. As soon as I try to sneak out of the car they are scared off. But today, on my way back home from workI finally got a heron! Far from your quality, Tom, but I took the picture myself! (200 mm + 2XTC, cropped)
