Nice job!* I know that if I had of tried these shots I would have had to crop mercilessly to make it seem I caught the cars anywhere near midframe, and I'd be left with something totally unusable.* I commend you!

Quartz

Great Shots. Auto racing is one of my Favorite things to shoot. Probabiliy because Back when i was a teen, Racing was my passion. Mostly Drag racing. I spent lots of money on My car, so i could race.

I am sure you will agree That the Bummer to Shooting at the races is the inability to get closer to the track. At Lime Rock Park, i have questioned them and due to insurance regs only Pros with credentials can get Down At track level.

Very nice and sharp with just a hint of movement in the background.

You might want to drop your shutter speed a bit next time and see how you like that effect, with more movement in the wheels and a bit more blur in the background. Just remember to keep your pan as smooth as possible when you get into the slower speeds and don't stop when you press the shutter release button.

That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you photos, just another way of doing it.

That was an assignment I gave my photography students, one shot at a high shutter speed above 1/500 sec, one at 1/60 sec and one at 1/30 sec and the last at 1/15 sec.
