We went to the harbour of Rotterdam today, the wind blew the girls allmost out of their shoes. All was gray and wet,I took some pictures Raw and tried to make them look a bit better. Edited with Acdsee Pro.

The helicopter, I missed its tail. I really needed both hands to hold the camera steady with all the wind so all is full automatic.

The first one of each pair ismade by acdsee, the second one is the real thing.

(IST DL with the pentax 50-200mm)

Richard.

The last one was really hard, full zoom (200mm) on the bridge where we got all the wind right out of the sea. But look the sun tried to be there too. Would not like to be that pilote.

Something like the real photo? :?

It's the raw only saved as jpg nothing more. (But it shows the reality of the weather better than the other.) ("The other", the same shot, but then editted. :-))

By real thing do you mean that the pics are coming outta the camera that way?? They are way too dark IMO and something does not look quite right as with my K100D if i shoot Jpeg and use the auto fix feature in ACDsee as i think you have done, i see lil difference. I prefer shooting RAW now though

Yes every second one is a Raw out of the camera. But, as I said before, the raw really match the colours better. It was all gray and wet. I did not use the automatic settings in acdsee, I did it myself.

There is no such thing as "right out of the camera". Either you pp the image, or the engineers at Pentax corp or Adobe do it for you.

I agree, the raw ones are made by Pentax. Still I was hoping on some critics about the photos and the edit process itself rather than discussing whats real and whats not.

I am still very new to digital photography, but I would say if it was a "gray" day leave it that way. My opinion is you went too bright in the whites. Make it look better but not a sunny day. The photos have the right amount of sharpness though. I am uploading my corrections too your real files too see what I mean about the whites.

I like your way, you still see the clouds in the first one and the grey sky on the second.

Thanks,

Richard.
