Default lens hoods

I also pposted this in the slr forum, just incase of more then response

ok i am new to the dslr world and i have bought a pentax k-x in the fall. I have a great popportunity using it on my recient trip to mexico and i am really thinking of getting a lens hood for it. The thing is no one in my area seems to sell any of them...??? They all have told me they are special orders direct from pentax and then they are costly. The henry's photo place near me said they have a rubber one ( not pentax brand) for my 18-55 lens... is teh rubber one just as good as the plastic ones? or am i better off paying more and ordering a plastic one from pentax?

ebay is the best place to get them

Search ph-rba on ebay, and a ton will turn up.

I use them from HK, takes about 2 weeks to get to you. They work just like the original. There are couple of US sellers if you want them in couple of day. fotodiox is one I think that has that hood.

I have hoods on all my canon lenses, and I got the hoods for the pentax on ebay also. And they work just like the oem ones. It is your money. But paying 30 dollars for a piece of plastic is allot. I wish the US distributor would just include the hoods like they do in japan.

do waste the time with the screw on, get the pentax knock off with the bayonet mount. The are faster to deploy and with that removable tab, it makes using a cpl much simpler.

Yup that is the link I gave you that is the pentax knock off and yes it can be reverse to store on the lens.

Seach PH-RBG and that will be the hood you need for the 55-300.
I used this seller for the 55-300 hood, no hassle easy transaction.
