Hi,

i bought a Pentax Optio S30 a few days ago, and it's really a great camera. But today I got a 128 MB SD-card. Most times the card is inside and I want to switch the camera on, it either hangs (just the green light on top is on, nothing else happens) or the green light flashes for about 1 second and the camera is still (or again?) switched off.
Sometimes I succeed in switching he camera on and the SD-card works fine.
I formatted the SD card several times...

Thanks for help,

Marcus

Marcus:

It's most likely a defective card.

Sandisk?

Their 128mb SD Cards (or rebranded cards from other manufacturers using the same components) are made in either China or Taiwan, and usually have a code on the back that looks something like these: AK0301LQ, AK0303LQ, AK0304LQ, AK0305LQ, AK0305LM, AK0307NK, AK0307NT,etc.). Although, some of their older cards used a slightly shorter code (0205LQ, 0206LQ, etc.)

You are formatting it with the camera menus, and not the PC, right?

If so, and a different card works, I'd see about getting it replaced under warranty if your vendor won't swap it out.
