Thank you to the poster who is hosting the file on Badongo! I had the dreaded "A90" but after the update the camera seems to work normally. I took about a dozen shots and so far, so good. Thanks also to the people who posted the step-by-step insturctions!

Hi, I should have registered to say thanks abouta yearago when I first happened upon this forum and fixed my Optio S.

I bought mine in March 2003 in Japan when it had just come out - I had no idea what to buy but I liked the look of it and trusted the brand.

I don't think that it is pre-programmed to die after two years or any specific time frame - that would have to be programmed in the factory and then there would be reams of us who bought from a certain batchcomplaining at the same time. Rather, I think it has something to do with aging batteries. I bought a second battery, and didn't have this problem till a good 3 years after purchase. However, once I fixed the problem, it happened again a week later. So I bought a fresh battery, and the problem hasn't arisen since!

So I would suggest getting a new battery (I went for an official Pentax one) to extend the life of this great little camera. Ok it is getting a little long in the tooth now but it's perfect for 6x4 prints.

Good luck finding the firmware - if it is still difficult to find let me know a safe place to upload it.

So, a belated thank you to all who contributed to me getting my camera back!

Hi,

I have the same problem on my Optio S. I can't download the file from anywhere though!!! Every link is saying file not found, and I can't even find badongo from google!

Has anybody got a copy of fwdc110p.bin that they could send me, or upload somewhere???

You can get me at slade.squire(at)gmail.com (replace the (at) with @).

Please help me find a fix, i'm going to my best mates wedding in 2 weeks, and can't take photo's!

Thank you so much for posting the site to where I can download the file. After a whole week of frustration with the A90 error message, my camera is fixed!!!! :-)

I am so glad I found this forum. I love my Pentax Optio S and I was so sad when the A90 message came on. Good that I found this forum and was able to fix it. Now I can enjoy my camera again.
