Default Pentax Optio 430RS

This camera has 11MB built-in flash memory and a compact flash slot. How would the memory be organised if you used a card in the slot? - would it disable the onboard memory, would it merge with it, or would you have to select between the memory as separate 'partitions'?

if you insert an cf card you can't use internal memory but you can copy files from cf card to internal memory and vice versa

I bought the 430RS for my wife, and here's our observations so far: quality is fine, menus are easy to use, almost intuitive. A few "features" are pretty useless- "filters" for instance. We also like the fact that Compact Flash cards of 1 GB are now available.

The negatives: the proprietary battery (get two or more), and the extraordinarily large file size, averaging 2.7 MB for a 4 megapixel high quality photo (my Nikon Coolpix 880 takes a very nice 3 mpegapixel photo and uses about 1 - 1.2 MB files- a big difference on a long trip!)
