Hey Everyone,

Would anyone be interested in starting a Monthly Challenge in this forum ?

Something like the Monthly Challenge that takes place in the Pentax Forum.

A topic gets posted. And then if you want to enter the challenge, just take a picture that meets the topic (ie. challenge). At the end of the month, there is an informal vote. And the winner gets bragging rights & gets to choose the next month's challenge.

It's a lot of fun & for me, it gives me something to look at / learn during the month.

I figure, to start things off, if you are interested in participating, you could post a challenge idea to this post/topic. And at the end of this month, we could take a vote on these challenge ideas. The winning challenge idea would be next months (May) challenge topic.

If you're interested in having some fun, please post a challenge idea to this post.

Take care, yours truly,
Glen
:)

Sounds like a plan. But this is the people forum. A challenge with any subject should be somewhere else in a more general place than people.

Hello Bynx,

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I posted the question in this forum because I thought it would be fun to be challenged on taking pictures of people.

Whether the challenge might be taking a people picture in low-light (Bahadir, how did you get such great images in a concert hall. The lighting must have been really challenging!), or concentrating on depth-of-field. Or maybe a challenge might be to take an interesting picture of someone facing away from the camera. Or an unusual location. Or "out-of-context."

Those ideas are just some I quickly typed out.

But if we all put our minds to it, this could be really fun.

And I know for myself, I'd probably end up learning a heck of a lot about something that I really enjoy doing. <grin>

And . . . since this forum isn't tied down to a type of camera, I could have fun with my Pentax dSLR, Nikon dSLR or Fuji P&S. I might even pull out my film camera and play with it. <grin>

Take care,
Glen
:)

A challenge with different themes centering around people. Sounds good. But I think one a month is a bit slow. How about one every 2 weeks. Or perhaps, every 12 days for shooting time and 2 days to vote, get results and come up with the new challenge then it would be 2 a month. Im in.

Hi Bynx,

That sounds interesting!

What's everyone's thoughts?

Take care,
Glen

I would be interested in this too.

Hello,

Well . . . to get the ball rolling, here is my suggested challenge idea.

"A twist or bend in the person's pose."

Everyone, please submit your challenge idea!

Maybe we can have a vote on the idea starting April 27th.

Do the tally on April 30th & then start shooting May 1st?

Then do Bynx's 12 days to shoot, 2 days to vote timeline?

Take care,
Glen
:)

Could be fun. Why not.

I appreciate youridea of bringing anewincentive tothis part of the forum, thoughI believe an underlying 'challenge'always existsin the nature ofthe forumseven without a confinedsubjectanda winner.Honestly I can hardly bring myself to confine on one particular subject, otherwise I could have participated the ones in Pentax Forum and the Biweekly Shoot Out often!Still, I'dattend as long as the chosen subjects coincide with my recent shootout: )

Thank you! It's nice tofind a feedback for my recent post 'The Soprano' elsewhere, anyway...The exifs are embedded there as I wrote. I should say sticking with raw for challenging conditions always pays pack in many ways (extended DR, truerer colours, less noise, etc.) Other than that, cancelling any sort of in body noise reduction but relying on dedicated software such as Neat Image is recommended.

Hello Bynx, shooting_rubber & shadokachr!

Did anyone of you wanted to suggest a theme for the 1st challege?

My suggestion was only to get the ball rolling.

If you have an idea, please put it forward.

I'd gladly stand down my idea to try out one of yours.

If you are happy with my suggestion, then do you want to get started?

I'm dying to play around and take some shots.

Take care, yours truly,
Glen
