Tony and Carly Pre Wedding Shoot

Had a fun pre wedding shoot yesterday and shot it all on primes (first time I've done this). I've been wanting to go lighter and fast glass for a long time so 2 weeks ago added the 35mm f1.4 L and 135mm f2 L to my collection and really pleased I did. I didn't miss using my normal combo which is the 24-105 f4 and 70-200mm f2.8 IS as the great shallow DOF and huge light eating ability of the glass made up for it. I know there will still be times when I want to use the zooms but I can see loads of my shooting done with this pair alone.

I also played a little with my new Lencarta Safari Li-on lights (only used one head) just to bring something a little different into the session (and to give me some fun).

The couple liked the different look, I know I still need to refine how I use them and I only used a standard reflector as it was too windy for a softbox (working solo and no guy ropes with me).

As ever, I'm really keen to hear what people think of the shots. Very little editing in LR just to get the colours as I like.

I find the back light/blown out background in #1 and #2 very distracting. When I crop the image tighter I like the images 100x betters. All of the others are excellent.

I think the background in 1 and 2 look great. It's a clean, modern look that hints at the setting just enough to explain the breezy high-key feel.

I particularly like 4,5 and 6... and I'm guessing the bridge in 5 is symbolic..?
Not quite coming to terms with the extreme dof in 3... it looks like there's a power struggle...! :)

Thanks guys, I'm fine with blown backgrounds but appreciate not all like this high key look.

Nope, nothing symbolic about the bridge just thought it just led nicely to the couple.
