He thinks the ocean is just way too big, these last two were taken with the Canon 100-300 usm lens

Julie-

Very cute series, #2 is great!

How do you like that 60mm macro? I've been looking at a fast-focusing prime in the 50-85mm range. Wondered how often I might like having the macro capability.

Thanks, I love the EF-S 60mm macro, its very sharp. Great for portraits as well as macro. I also have just recently purchased the nifty fifty (50mm F1.8 )Thats also fairly sharp in the right conditions. Im still working the fifty out and getting used to photographing with prime lenses.

heres a shot with the 60mm usm macro, standard portrait shot. I like the sharpness

This shot is with the cheap 50mm. this was in very low light at ISO 1600 F 3.2 shutter speed 1/200s

Aladyforty,

As I have the same lens (100-300mm USM that is), have Aussie blood in my viens and admire outdoor people shots, I've just GOT to comment, right?

I like this selection of photos you posted... and ideas you had. For me the first two photos are my favourites.

60 mm macro looks likea nice portrait lens to use too...

I love the 100-300mm lens for outdoor captures, I've used it at camps and on holidays with pleasure and decent results.

The boy's "bright" right leg (in the fourth photo) is a bit distracting for me... otherwise it would've been perhaps my favourite, cool body language.

Is summer coming over there yet? The boy looks quite fair skinned... but "sun protection" is important too!

Oh yes, the cat portrait is great too.. maybe would've loved to see more of the cat's head in the picture, but still it's a great photo. Sharp too (I've also got the 50mm f1.8)

Thanks for sharing, always good to see your photos. Well done.

Paul

thanks, yes summer is here in two weeks time. It has been very dry this year in WA, the driest in 40 years so the farmers are saying. Sheep are being hand fed and have been even down here in the south. We are told we are in for a very bad fire season too.

The boys love the beach and are quite fair but we use lots of 30+ sunscreen and hats.:-)
