My first real "photo session" (Other than family), as a close friend's family came over for some Christmas pictures. I'm still reading a lot, trying to learn about lighting and posing, so any comments are welcome.

I too have been spending a lot of time reading and learning about lighting, portraiture, etc and I think you've done a great job here. The lighting is very well balanced. The compositions are great....all hands, arms and lines lead back to your center of interest. Your catchlights are well placed as well. The only issue I have is the sweater colour in pic # 1.... I don't think it is the best choice to complement your background and prop . Keep up the great work and TFS.

Thanks for everyone's comments, I'm encouraged by your comments, which are greatly aprpeciated (Mental note to self, don't throw away camera, lights and back drops just YET - ha-ha).

Trefpeg: I'm using a 3 light studio setup that I bought from eBay. I believe the lights are Britek, 160WS, and I'm only using 2 lights, with umbrellas, in the pictures.

Goomer: Thank you for your comments as well. I agree, the sweater color choice was made by our friends. Most of the shots were converted to black and white (Their preference, not necessarily mine), so it worked well for the B&W pictures. I tried a few other background colors, but they didn't convery the Christmas spirit as well.

Thanks to all for your comments, they are appreciated.
