Default Rockport Redfish....any thoughts?

Here is a picture I took....again still very new to taking pictures so I would welcome any comments. I wish I knew how to edit the photo...but for now, this is the original.

Nice vacation catch.
One minor thing, the horizon in the bcakground is not level. I would assume it should be in a boat on the water.

Other than that only one other thing to remember, the picture will usually last longer than the fish. Aloha.

Nice catch  - but I'm still wondering, how man (in common) can be so proud when they catch small things like fish! :P
I think it's a fine shot. Only thing is that you blew some highlights on the fish's head! No details at all. This is one of the great things of digicams - you can watch the shot afterwards. If I see burned out highlights I often take another shot with compensation for this.

Well... just a little help to the next time.

Happy hunting....

The first edit I can think of would be to change that ridiculous Jets hat into a handsome Redskins hat.

Good when you land it using very fine line - that's the skill thing.

Great pic, as said before straighten up that horizon.

Okay Steve, I get it! It's just that I never been much into fishing. First time I went out to catch one, I catched a ridiculous small fish and it moved so much around, that I got confused what to do with it. I grabbed the nearest thing - a bottle and smashed the poor fish - everything went into small pieces  . My first and prob . last time fishing!

But I can see some has better skills than me!

Default SMALL FISH INDEED!

Great posts guys and gals!!!! You are right..the jets hat needs to go, the fish is way too small, the picture was taken in a boat, and the horizon is not level! But then again...its my brother in the picture....so I can't make it look too good...otherwise.....that JETS hat won't fit!

This fish is typically smaller than what we catch. It was under the minimum legal length limit of 20 inches so it was let go. We use only 10 lb test line, and super thin 7 ft rods! I was dying to take a picture....and well...that had to do.

Thanks for the posts and the suggestions, I will try and play with photoshop and see what I can come up with.

Default Revised Rockport Red

Hey Klaus....I tried your technique for leveling out the horizon...works dam good! I added some color to the photo as well. What do you all think? Too much color now? Be honest. I also tried lowering the brightness of the fish...but found this task to be a little to hard for me to figure out. Just didn't look natural. I also got rid of the flare in the fishing glasses.

Thanks
