Default Girlfriend

Curious as to what I can do to this photo.

Her leg seems a bit overexposed but to get the angle of her resting on the rock I could not place my self in front of the sun.

I tried playing with the levels but I could not seem to get her leg to darken up against the rock behind it.

Any ideas?

I'm trying my hand at people photos, but since it is only with my camera and no other type of equipment, I want to see my limitations

These are burned out highlights. The only way you can restore them is to use the technique with feathering (see my website for a tutorial if you like).

I used this technique- what do you think Gimli. (The more time you use - the better the result - you can prob. do it much better than this if you take the time). I did it in a hurry...

BTW - I only did this because I simply love that shot. It really shows how nice you can portrait a woman - they really don't have to be naked. (...and they often are in this pose). Lovely shot Gimli. Let me know what you think!

Hey that does look better. I'll definately will look over your tutorial on your site!

I agree with the 'you can portrait a women and they don't need to be nude' part. Though she doesn't want me to post them

Hi Gimli__

This is a wonderful example of a "photo of illusion".

Your girlfriend looks just like a sole survivor of a shipwreck...
who after a tempest...now warms up with the sun upon
her.

Just a thought...

Nice improvement Klaus,
I'll have to read up on feathering myself.
Nice to know you guys don't always think women have to be naked in pics to be appealing.

Gimli,

The pose is classic and the black and white rendition evoked a mood that immediately captured my attention. The picture reminded me of the old legend about mermaids sunning themselves on rocks.

Klaus' post shot work while only partially complete really corrects the one flaw you pointed out.

Good job.
